Description

A further exploration in pushing Bryce to create a more realistic scene, and a return to a subject area I spent many years painting in the watercolour medium...wildlife in the natural environment. This time I combined a snow preset with a dead grass phototexture from cgtextures.com and a preset procedural to create the snow-covered field. The large bushes are an arboro tree from jrcejasulido, with a combined tree bark phototexture and a snow preset, and leaves rendered in a snow terrain mat.The grasses and smaller foliage are Bryce presets in customized textures. The magpie is by Noggins from Daz3D(posed in DazStudio). The ice-covered pond is a customized water mat combined with a nebula procedural...this was perhaps the hardest part of creating this scene!Rendered in Premium with soft shadows,I added cast shadows in the SkyLab under the cloud section...this provided the "magic" the image needed. Thanks for viewing and any comments you wish to leave!

Wow! Excellent work. That snow look very real - like the half "rotten" stuff after a thaw.

This is exceptional, Neil. Your watercolor skills with painting wildlife certainly work well with the 3D medium. Shadows and snow texture are very well done and the flying magpie adds the feeling of wooshing movement.
