Magical things happen when our actions, interactions with others, and all else, is born and sustained in pure peace, love, understanding, and care. Such has been my own personal journey with Dirk, and what an extraordinarily beautiful journey and lesson it has been. Still, I can't find words (so I've necessarily just deleted the feeble attempts). There just aren't any.
As Dirk might say, "Keep on loving one another."
As I might say, "Do it now..do it while you can. First touch, and then embrace, all the human possibilities."
There's nothing freer, nothing more beautiful or sacred, nothing more lasting or capable of transcending even death itself, than simply that.
Still...
Love, peace, and thoughts to each of you...

I regret that I never knew dirk, but your tribute is deeply moving, Nancy, and speaks from the most personal regions of the heart. It's an image of waves, but they're waves of the soul as well as of water, you have these gorgeous lace crests, like scarves-of-the-soul or of the love between you and your beloved friend, and they float on your waves like the moments & patches of joy & connection you shared. And there are layers of beautiful hues, and subtle hills which feel like billows of connectedness; and a sky of whispers & mists reminiscent of the great spaces between you. It's gently soaked in the love for a dear one passed, and truly intimate despite distance...I lost two of intimate friends this fall & know the reach across chasms, and if I had to conjure an image, this would touch all the deep feelings. I wish you peace and the same to all others effected by Dirk's loss. His spirit must be awash in love if this is what he brought out in everyone he touched...very beautiful, and ultimately stronger than all passing.
