Description
During the month of November, many Christian churches remember all those in their community who have died in the preceding years, not just those who died in our often forgotten wars, on Armistice Day / Veterans' Day.
All who visit the churches during this period have the opportunity to remember their loved ones.
I know that deaths at this time of year somehow seem worse, especially those of older relatives, or children. The end of Autumn / Fall, and the dreary advent of winter wears down our hope, until we quietly, and miraculously, rediscover that God gave His only son to die for us, so that we might share in His eternal life in Heaven, free from the ills, pains and worries of this world. Then the assurance of His plan for His children, will surely sustain us through the dark night of the soul.
From my own experience, I can state that deep sadness and seemingly irreplaceable loss do grow like a bulb seeking the sun's rays, out into a place of hope. The warming, though small, still joy, comforts us as we lovingly cherish those heartfelt memories of our most dearest ones.
I pray that all affected by the death of one near to them, or remembering their dear departed, at this time of year, will be comforted by our Heavenly Father, and held safely in the palm of His hand.
God bless you all, John.
