Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I have noticed that women like random events compromised and men like the unexpected certain event. Both men and women like common sense. Light is something you can trust. Darkness is something that occupies your prowess.

Not bad first efforts Maz, just a little camera shake there, a tripod or other solid surface would have sharpened these, exposure wise they are on the money.

I think Bob Seger had a song for it, "Night Moves". The Light is is very nice and I Love those reflcetions!!

Good attempt Marilyn! Nightshots = tripod = cable or remote shutter release!!! That's the most important secrets!!! :)

Fine collage of these night scenes. I don't take these things too LIGHTly.

a tripod is almost necessary unless you have something to brace against.your results are still very interesting

What a fun group of shots! (Just tell people you did it on purpose as a sort of "painting with light" experiment.)

great stuff

Once you get used to lugging a tripod around, these shots will turn around for you. I hate carrying mine but I did get a monopod that is no more combersome than carrying a cane. Good first try.

I would also suggest a tripod and the use of your timer/remote control. You'll love what you doing even more at nights. Aloha

I don't photograph, so don't know night-photography first hand, but every photographer I know agrees it has all kinds of perils & demands. What I love about this is the Warhol-like combination, with each image 'commenting' on the others...It's really a symphony of lights & darks, and blasting coronas & dark shadows; and I love how you continued the reflection-lines of the third (from the top) into the bottom shot. An exciting, provoking montage, painterly in some ways but wholly photography; and a lot of fun. Hope you do more. And I still can't figure out what that light-blast is in #'s 2 & 4 from the top, but I really like it. And the reflections in 3 are wonderfully paint-like. (Either those yellow blasts are a boat, a reeeeeallly big car, or you might wanna consider moving out of the area really soon...) Love this piece.

These are great first efforts...a lot better than the "Absinth Vision" shots I was once known to take...I'll be merciful and not inflict them on anyone. I like these shots quite a lot, and they are spot on the money. A tripod (or inverted beer mug) would do wonders for clarity though; but you seem to have your settings right and even blurred, these images have a fantastic quality to them that is a hallmark of good art and a great eye! Fantastic work, especially since they ALSO have hints of your signature brilliance in terms of color! I think that your newer focus on darkness is just as brilliant, and a new way for you to play around ! Great stuff!

I would agree with Tara as then it becomes an artform :o)..I love these images Marilyn as they are different from the norm and the light patterns create interesting shapes. mick

You did very well. You especially have captured the movement of the moment.

I looks nice Marilyn. It could be an artists rendition. I know how difficult night shots are. These look very interesting!
