Description

Morning all :o) I thought this shot might be appropriate today of the flying Scotsman in bits taken at the National Railway Museum in York where I met up with Jeff and Alan earlier this year ,as our lives and home are going to be dismantled aswell in the coming weeks . Well the end of a chapter in our lives is nearly upon us .We accepted the offer of the property yesterday morning .There is an old lady still living here until Saturday when she moves into sheltered accommodation .Her nephew was there at the time of our visit and as luck would have it I knew him ,so he invited us in to have a look around and both June and I knew straight away that this was what we both wanted .The house has not long been modernised with double glazing ,new heating system and a new kitchen .The house was also spotless and clean and well looked after .This lady has lived here more or less the same amount of time as we have lived in our house only she moved into this house when it was first built .It is less than a quarter of a mile from where we live now ,but is just a totally different area and is a prime location and always sought after so we were very lucky I think to be offered this .It is quite a strange feeling now knowing that we only have a short while left in this house and to be embarking on a new beginning in a strange house .Having to pack up all our married life, memories and belongings and move it to somewhere new ,but we also let out a huge sigh of relief knowing that living here in this nightmare was becoming to much to bear even though this has been our home and our life for so long .Now begins the packing into boxes and sorting through what we have accumulated over the years ,which should be fun as some of the stuff wont have seen the light of day for sometime now .I might even find my platform shoes and flares from the seventies lol :o) I will be online until we move and then will have to wait to be connected up again with my provider .The good thing is that the council sort all of these things out for us .Telephone ,sky ,internet ,plumbing and the arrangement of the move ,so it wont be too stressful I hope. Thanks for looking and take care and I will be trying to keep up as best I can but at the very least I will be looking :o) Mick

your work has just begun, when my ex wife and I moved, it took about a week and a half before we were fully straightened out, bit stressful in it's own way, back then I had to sort all the transfere stuff out, but there was not sky tele then, Old Rupert still owned the Sun :)...I am so pleased for you and your family that you have finaly reached the light at the end of a very long tunnel..May be a bit early but, a very mery Christmas and a prosperous new year mate!...This is a great shot of the old gal sripped to her underwear.

Mick this is a time to truly ponder all that has happened to you and around you and this image does relate to that well along with your words. My only wish is that you and your wife will be happy.

So glad that you like your new home Mick, here's wishing you and your family much happiness and peace when you move. It really is such a stressful time, isn't it? As you say the start of a new chapter in your lives.

I'm happy that it isn't too far away from where you have spent most of your married life Mick, at least you will be able to use the same shps and what not. I hope you have a samshing Christmas, you should be in and settled by then, good news also to hear that the council will see to most of your change overs, as that in itself can sometimes be a nightmare. I have moved homes several times myself but I will only leave this place in a wooden box. Not much left of the Flying Scotsman in this shot Mick, I hope I'm here long enough to see it put back together. That old chap that I was talking to said it would be 2012 I think before it was back in commission. I'd like to take a ride on it, the one I missed with my mate. Excellent capture, it shows how dedicated the mueseum is to refurbish and keep working the old Steam Engines. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

Wow, it really is disassembled to the frame. Great shot. Mick, I haven't been following all your moving tasks but have nipped in once in awhile for a little piece here and there...hope all is going well. I had my entire home remodeled last year...now, I've got things still packed away that may stay that way for years to come :) I have only unpacked what I need...much less clutter! Bill
