Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

Unfortunately that's how will loose beachgoer's every year to the sea. It's very beautiful to watch from a distance, but you gotta pay attention when your up close and personal. Kewl shot Sharky and some good advice~ Aloha!

It sure is crazy what folks will do for a photograph eh??? Looks like a snap & run situation... Dangerous & beautiful!!! Aloha... ;-)

Yeah, I had a friend stand there myself. Then, as the BIG wave came up, I told her to run.....And lucky she did. Hawaii may be a beautiful place to live, but we also have danger all around us. Aloha

rogue waves are predicted this weekend on the upper California coast. Just a couple days ago 5 men were swept out to sea on one not that far from here - 3 died and 2 were rescued. I like your pov on this.

Excellent photo. Waves and rocks...risky indeed. Even a strong swimmer can be in trouble here. Bill

A most striking image! It does look risky.

I can see what you mean, my friend. That seventh wave always surprises even the timid soul 'paddling' at a seaside beach. There it is just their trousers / skirt that gets wet. Getting crashed / crushed by half a ton of water againt unyielding breakwaters, and then getting sucked back into the sea, is just plain silly, even for the average, my-brain-is-switched-off-till-Saturday, tourist .. ;o) Those of you who live on the islands, all year round, have to cope with hurricanes / typhoons as well. Not for you the luxury of scooting off on a jet, to relative safety. Warm regards, from an increasingly icy Glasgow, John.

Fantastic capture! :)

Beautiful capture. A "slippery when wet" warning sign would ruin the view, though.

Awesome Scene!!

We have had people doing that on our breakwater here too and there have been casulties. It is amazing what risks people take with their lives.
