Description

(Please view full-size...)
I've wanted to honor more of you, and will as life allows...but I want to start with someone I've wanted to honor for awhile: Tim, aka november22. Those of you who know him know he's simply one of our best. For those who don't, his gallery's here... His leaf-series alone makes my point: His sensitive refinement & intelligence, his uncanny sense of the life within each fold, his sensuality & use of color, and the love of a jeweler who spends hours pouring over the tiniest facet because, to him, each facet contains the world...The result is intimate and yet majestic. Also, he understands the power of borders, meaning the universe they define & how his art communes with them. It reminds me of the Oriental masters, for whom art & borders were always in sublime dialogue... Well my maps aren't your leaves, Tim, but I did do 2 things: I put them in panels because you do panels so well; and I used mixed media, ala you. (Well sort of: Pencils mercilessly tortured in Photoshop--I think that qualifies for mixed media. It's not the aluminum/printers/acrylics etc. that you use, but at least I could pay you homage...) So keep creating, Sir T! With all your efforts in the pro world, it's wonderful to share you here. You hold one of those special places at Rosity & I look forward to more of your jewels as you post them--ispirazione!
* * * * * * Thanks to all for visiting- it means a great deal to me. Much peace to all, Mark (again, full-view has much more color & clarity!)

Mark all I can say is this was truly the perfect way to start my day with a visit to your gallery. I don't know your friend this wonderful dedication is for but now you can rest assured I'll check out his gallery as it sounds like a wonderful place. The gentle details and wonderful textures in your maps are amazing Mark and I know someone who is as sensitive as you described will be so grateful to you for this.

OH, I love your map images and you know it. They have something special that amazes me. I would like to be a fly on the wall, while you are drawing such a map. This triptych is a wonderful dedication for Tim. And you are right about Tims art. It is fantastic. :)

Wow. There are few things I put on my studio walls for inspiration, but your maps certainly would be there if I could get my hands on them! You are too kind by far, but if even one connection is made then a work is successful and I'm most happy to feel so very successful now. I echo magnus, a 'truly perfect way to start my day...'. Cheers my friend, call me if you feel a need to chat - where is that cell phone now.... Anyway thanks again and have a great weekend, as the snow does approach sunday nite ya' know!

There is so much here...riches within riches. The three distinct frames hold wonders individually, and together, they meld into something that builds upon each of the distinctions they make. I love the colors in this, natural and earthy, yet with a vivid quality that is most beautifully captured in either plants or interstellar phenomena. There is a pronounced measure of artistic sensitivity here as well, and that is one of the most appealing qualities in all of your work.
