Swaledale Possibly one of the lesser known areas of yorkshire is Swaledale.In 1085, when William the Conqueror's surveyors where compiling the Doomsday Book, they wrote the area above Reeth off as "wasteland".It is bleak in places with many of these old homes or barns scattered amogst the hills One claim to fame is that is had Great Britain's highest Inn which sits high on the moors. a wasteland?! pure blasphemy. i think the farm looks simply beautiful, and i'd bet it's even more so when it snows. and the stone walls divide this view in a visually interesting way. maybe it's just my (probably unexpected, considering my race) heritage talking, but i think it looks ideal. if i had to describe the perfect environment i'd like to live in, it would be high moors, but by the sea. and with dense forests several miles (very long walk or a very short drive) away. don't ask me why i live in Texas.
