BIO
For around 20 years I was a professional wedding and portrait photographer winning a couple of Kodak awards but turned to landscapes about a year ago in 2005.In my wedding days I shot on a Bronica 6 x 6 format but my camera now is a Nikon D100 and I feel that digital and Photoshop opened a whole mew world to us guy's and gals. I am based in the UK moving from the south to lancashire at the end of 2005.
So its now 2009..long time since I updated my bio.
Now shoot on a Nikon D200 and process my work through Photoshop CS3.
Been to a lot of places since moving north.Three times to Scotland..going again in September 2009.
Had a week in Snowdonia..brilliant place....cant say the same for the weather we had.Ventured down to Devon...been for a week in Northumbria..had a glorious week on the North Yorkshire coast.Walked miles around the lake district in Cumbria.
Been to west Yorkshire no end of times and that's just the places I can recall.
Tried and tried to improve my photography which if any one looks thru my gallery back to the early days may agree that it has come a long way.
So many places still to see in the UK.We must have some of the loveliest places on earth to photograph here..there will never be enough time.Â

I knew it was the Dales even from the thumbnail. It's a glorious landscape. Great photo.

My inlaws were originally from Yorkshire, my friend. So I got to see all the places that they had cycled to, in their YMCA days. My father-in-law took and developed his own photos, and then gave most of them away.. The dales often reminds me of the stretch between about Beattock Summit and Douglas on the A74 / M74 heading north through the Borders, towards the Central Belt, up here in Scotland. Many a time I ended up digging drivers out of snowdrifts... I was cold even in my greatcoat, and carpet-insoled wellies. Warm regards, from an icy Glasgow, John.

i find it interesting how your work makes people forget you and your photos and respond to the area. it's like you're taking portraits of the land that bring out its truest and best qualities.
