Description
There are many places where these little sparrows are rare now. In the capital numbers have plummeted, the nature groups are trying to help, provide commutitee nesting boxes and feeding all the year round. Here in rural lincolnshire we still have them in our gardens in reasonable numbers. This is a male in my birdbath.

Fantastic shot! My birdbath is a popular place around here lately... we could use some rain. I'm sorry to hear they are on the decline there but I'm sure there are many here in the US that would be happy to send you some. Introduced here in the mid 1800s they are considered to be quite the pest and are aggressive and destructive to other birds (especially the bluebird). Whew... that was a lot o' typin' :)

Yep there wa a terrible desaese that wiped out tons here in London, the effects were so bad, I have not seen a spadger (that's what they are known as in south London)for ages, plenty of flying rats (Pigeons)gulls crows and the timeless and annoying starlings, but no spadgers :(
