“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Even though the moon is obscured, the image looks cool!

I literally ran outside to see if I could see this. I then looked it up on the internet. It would appear that I missed it. Thanks for sharing and great photo.

I am on the phone talking to my girlfriend treying to tell her to go out and look! I am in Nevada, and we can see it crystal clear! So absolutely phenomenal! Great Pic! Hugs Ariana

Gorgeous capture; I love the cloud layer, it adds a dimension to the shot. Great work! It's still raining here, no chance of seeing it live.

Good one, Bill. Last Saturday about 6 p.m., they were even closer; the crescent barely there, and the planets in almost perfect vertical alignment. The unusual display was enough to get me thinking about the Star of Bethlehem.

Oh, don't be unhappy with your moon. I think this is an excellent photo. I like the clouds passing over the face of the moon.

This is gorgeous! I didn't get to see this "in person" and your photograph is wonderful!

Fantastic Shot!!!

I saw it the other night when the two planets were very close to the moon up on the ecliptic. This has a veiled look that is consistent with the rarity.

Very, Very good shot. You should be pleased! I've tried to get a decent shot of the Moon for ages and failed! Bit too cold for me to wonder out though..... Rob.

I'm not sure if it was viewable from Detroit, but anyway, we had cloudy sky for days, including flurries most of the time... and as Achmed - the dead terrorist (Jeff Dunham's puppet) said, Allah damn it!

Superb conjonction capture

Excellent shot of the distant orbs at night, Bill! I know they were in extremely close conjunction at one point. I like the diffused moon shown up high. Unfortunately, too much haze and city light pollution to see anything from my vantage point. And, I won't hold my breath waiting for 2052.

wow a great shot...now I konw, what I have seen over here too but did not have my camera at hand...smile

In the cold dark depths of North Yorkshire, England we saw the planets align this evening. I couldn't take a photo because of the glare from the street lamp :( they were very low on the horizon but it was an awesome sight. Thank you for sharing this photo with us.
