Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I met a newspaper COLUMNIST I had been reading. He was teasing a Puerto Rican girl. He had run for Congress then dropped out. Now his life was going to take a dark turn as he sought the greatest power.

just a 'pier' but it feels monumental (literally like a monument or temple walkway...) The music of the piers going back into shadows is striking; but so is the gold-light on the columns & the misty air outside the pier itself. This is the kind of photo you could show several ways, including b&w and sepia, it has much power & expression; and the texture of the sand is a constant musical accompaniment. You definitely have an eye for the monumental, and I hope you keep pursuing it wherever you go: I mean, this is a simple shot—not Mt. Everest or a great temple or cathedral—but you sought the 'temple' in it. Bravo. Another fav.
