Description

First of all, my apologies to many of you. There are a lot of heavy duty things happening in my life with two of my grandchildren. Mom is doing much better, but I am still spending a lot of time with her doing stuff. Also this time of year is hard for me to get through. I dread the holidays. There are too many bad memories associated with this time of year. At any rate, I haven't posted here in a while, and probably won't much any more. I joined artwanted and am going to try to sell some of my art. That is a positive thing I need right now. So you all take care, and I will check in from time to time. Its just something I have to get past, this holiday thing. That being said, this image is my response to what I saw: I was watching the Public Broadcasting Station, PBS, last week and watched a two hour special titled 'The Rape of Europa'. It was about the art that was stolen from private residences and also from Art museums, by the Nazi's during World War II. From history, I had known of this happening, but never realized the degree of damage, and loss that occured. Many people, ordinary soldiers and residents of cities helped preserve and hide what art could be saved. Many remain nameless. Below is a link to a site you might find interesting to check out. There is also a book, 'The Rape of Europa', by Lynn Nicholas, (which I have), that is simply amazing and so touching. There are still masterpieces that have never been recovered. I hope you enjoy this, and also that you will check out the link. Art really is the gift that keeps on giving. Sometimes centuries later. http://www.rescuingdavinci.com/HelpSolve/list_mfaa.aspx Be happy in your art.

Very Scerene image. G'luck with sellign your art and the holidays. Yes the art lost after WWII is an interesting story especialy since so many in the Western world assumed that the missing pieces where in the Soviet Union (some still do). Pieces are found all the time. Sadly the destruction and loss of art occurs all the time.

I'm with you at this time of year as well Leanndra, my mother died at this time of year and my first grandson was buried on Christmas Eve, died of cot death at two and a half months old.
