Description

First, I made this a collage as I couldn't decide which to post first. I posted the original and using the invert filter and neon filter. These photos were taken right at the point on the bridge where the Welcome to NY sign is. Not too long ago friends from South Jersey came to visit. On our way to a muscian friends birthday party in "da Bronx" (to which they weren't overly happy about the Bronx, that and the fact they had never been there)we took the George Washington Bridge rather than the Lincoln Tunnel. During the drive I heard various complaints how they were glad to have moved south as New Yorkers are rude, uncaring, yadayada, blah, blah, blah. As we were going over the bridge I pointed to the sign that stated "no cameras or picture taking is allowed" and how it was the result of 9/11. Also pointing out ... how easy it is to live in South Jersey as out of sight, out of mind is easier when you are not reminded of the simple pleasures in life that have been taken away from you. Sooooooo..knowing me the way I'm sure some of you have come to know me LOL...The bridge is three lanes on either side and we were in the center lane. I took out my camera as I stuck my head out the window I asked that they slow down. My girlfriends husband said you can try but no one is going to slow down to let you take a decent picture. As I was about to take a shot I noticed a sky blue 2007 mercedes sports car with two definitely hunky guys in it about to get in my view. When they saw me trying to take the picture they waved me onward and slowed down holding up traffic in their lane. I mouthed one more and they smiled and the driver waved to me with a bow. As they drove past the driver called out to me..."you go girl don't let them tell us how to live!" My girlfriend's mouth dropped on her chest and her husband said...well they are probably from NJ, I said "oh yeah, check out the plates!" They were NY plates, I added "I'll tell you what I tell my ex when he says stuff like NY'er are dangerous, rude etc...well, I guess we see life through our own eyes!" Despite my friends fears we arrived safe and sound. The music was filling every space in and out of the house. I dropped my camera, my purse and just started dancing. And inspite of themselves they too had a fantastic time once they relaxed and saw we weren't ghouls and goblins. Hope all have had a fantastic weekend.

oh yes I know what you talk about...lol... when my hubbie and I visited NW we were told beforehand there are only two ways to see NY, either you love it or you hate it... we loved it, every place around and we had only very positive experiences even in the parts of NY, which were said to be bad...

Wonderful shot of the NY Manhatten skyline. As a rule, NYC is a great place to visit but sure glad I don't live there. Too many people in too small an area. I never found the folks especially rude.. mostly nice people. (perhaps a bit too busy sometimes..lol) Nice photo's Michelle. Bravo and hugs from Dave :^)
