Description

From my fancy backlighting studio ... .......... Thank you for your kind comments on my last post. I'm struggling right now re-learning what I'm seeing, and apparently things are not as blurry as I believe them to be! Either that or you're all being very nice to me. My cataract surgery was not a huge success. There's something that happens to many people between one and four years out from the surgery called "hazing," and it forms on the inner part of the lens they didn't take out. They saw it on the back of my eye only four weeks after my surgery. It's like I'm adjusting to being partially blind in that eye all over again. I've got my new glasses now, so the prescription is right, but I'm really struggling with my photography. (Well ... with the postwork. I'm not having any trouble pushing the button on the camera.) This image of the flowers looks fine to me ... nice and sharp. But I've got stuff ready to post (at least I THINK it's ready to post!) that I'm not so sure about. So bear with me. I'm not trying to be coy about blurry shots. That amphora really DID start out to be blurry (I had Marilyn check it for me) and I postworked the holy crap out of it trying to get it to look right. I must have done a better job than I thought I did, and I just can't see it. I shall persevere. In the meantime, if I post something that looks blurry to you, would you please tell me?

Beautiful flower display. And they are just right sharpness-wise. I don't have the same difficulty that you do but I do wear tri-focals ...sometimes during post-work, I look through the top, then the middle, then the bottom...then say, the heck with it, pull 'em off altogether and just lean in a bit. But having a nice big screen to work with is the best remedy that I've found. Bill

You pushed all the right buttons with this shot; that studio of yours is awesome!! I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask about focus. I'm sitting here at this very moment with MY glasses pulled down to the tip of my nose just to see the screen, but you know I'll help all I can!!

I believe the eyes to be our most precious commodity especially after my episode with double vision, so of course I would tell you if your images were blurry or fuzzy. Sorry to hear you have a side effect as it were from your surgery, it must be very frustrating for you. I know how much I worried when I thought I may never drive again. This shot is certainly in focus and the hazy outer edge is down to dof not your eyes. Most beautiful flowers and an excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!

Your center flower here is clean, crisp and focused beautifully. The others vary slightly giving this a great deal of depth. I know about that hazing but I assumed it was only in a few cases and it, of course, would not be a problem for any of my friends - some stranger, perhaps, but not my friends. So sorry to hear it showed up. No doubt, you will find a way to work with it though. You are one determined lady. :-)

Oh Tara... I'm sorry that you are still battling with your eyes... or rather battling again. Please do persevere!!! I love your 'studio' work and this image is as perfect as they get. Lovely sharp focus and great DOF!!! Well done! :)

Don't worry, this is a real good shot! I'm worried about that kind of surgery for my mom, 'cause she's supposed to have such a surgery this month...

What a beautiful shot on this cold Oregon day. I wish you the best with your eyes. I have double vision so I know all about eye troubles. Seeing twice as much chocolate is a good thing but looking at two headed people with four eyes on each head on the TV is annoying as all get out!

It looks great to me, Tara, but I wear progressive lenses too, so my word probably isn't the one you want! Love your studio, you have the best light!

Just a beautiful shot. Not blurry at all. Is the haze a permanent thing? I surely hope not.
