Description
BUY THIS CAR!!!
Sixty-fifth in a series of classic vehicles, captured 9/21/08, at the beautiful Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, held annually at the beautiful Trump National Golf Club on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in overpopulated Southern California.
For more information on this event, see my posting for 9/28/08.
Sorry, but this is the last of my Duesenberg series. For explicit details and history on this glorious automobile, see my postings for December 9 and 10. This beauty alone was virtually worth the trip and expense of going to the show. And I was drunk with awe and admiration of this elegant machine while circling it, seeking the most advantageous POVs for capture.
If you've been following this series, you'll note that the vehicle came equipped with two spare tires, one on each side of the car, both ensconced in beautiful casings.
I know you all love shiny and reflective stuff, so the bottom shot is another closeup of the gleaming exhaust pipes on the starboard side of the car, that were featured in yesterday's posting.
A zoom view would be to your distinct benefit.
Incidentally, if it weren't for the subsequent magic of Photoshop, all three collages would have been an abject failure.
Thankx for popping in, and have a Thursday to remember.

I think it is wonderful that wheel wrights and frame dressers and engine machinists and body men and glass cutters and instument repairmen have preserved sometimes arcane skills no longer used. Their hand work and tools are what makes these classics shine even when they are found in pristine condition.

Glad you took time to capture all the details. Love the color and a fine condition reflect a love for this car from the owner.

Great images. I really would like to make a vector-art with it, as in my gallery.

Fantastic. It is funny to think that this beauty needed those two spare tires because the quality of tires was so poor in the 20s and 30s that a single trip almost anywhere could result in more than one flat tire. Makes me think of my grandmother's story of an alcoholic uncle returning to the farm after a 2-3 day bender with four flat tires and hay sticking out of the car in all directions...somewhere on his travels he had driven straight through a hay stack. Poor guy...but the old Ford or Chevy kept on going :-) Bill

This auto just begs to be fondled; the curves and angles are wonderfully satisfying. And your shots are perfect--whatever did we do before Photoshop?
