Description

Hi Friends I am still placing Swaziland images (!!) and I shot this landscape high up in the Swazi mountains. How did we get there? Well, we drove up in my normal sedan vehicle. At the bottom, where this particular piece of road starts, is a clear sign that this road is NOT to be used when it rains - not even by 4X4's. It took us 40 minutes in 1st gear to get to the top only to be greeted by threatening rain clouds. There was a guide with some tourists at the very top (in a 4X4 vehicle!) and we asked him how much it must rain for the road to become dangerous... His answer - "Immediately". Needless to say, we clicked off a few images and then headed back down - again in 1st gear because it is so steep... Why did we go up there in the first place you may ask! Well, to see Reilly's Rock, which is similar to Ayres Rock in Australia. It is much smaller but much, much older than it's Australian cousin!!! Yip - to see a freaking rock... Anyway - it never rained until much later that evening!!! Have yourselves a great weekend and thank you so much for your comments and favs on my elegant Swazi lady of last night!!! Hugs, Carin xx

Ha, your story was even better than your outstanding landscape. You had me laughing as I read... We took a similar trip up to the top of Pike's Peak a few years ago. There were four of us in the car...the driver was petrified but the three passengers were suffering from altitude oxygen deficiency and giggling like school girls all the way up. We did get back down safely. Thanks for reminding me of a ridiculously funny trip. Yours'sounds to have been more dangerous. Bill

Really stunning colors in this beautiful capture, I'd have done it too. And I'd be tempted to wait for the rain to come, too!

Gosh I have missed so many beautiful images by you...and Bruce too! This is simply divine and how scary the tale of the road! Thanks so much Carin for your wishes for Monday, I have positive thoughts about it but a little scared too (always the unknown is scary). Hoping I am back here daily again before long! Miss you!(((Carin)))
