Description

Hi Friends I am still placing Swaziland images (!!) and I shot this landscape high up in the Swazi mountains. How did we get there? Well, we drove up in my normal sedan vehicle. At the bottom, where this particular piece of road starts, is a clear sign that this road is NOT to be used when it rains - not even by 4X4's. It took us 40 minutes in 1st gear to get to the top only to be greeted by threatening rain clouds. There was a guide with some tourists at the very top (in a 4X4 vehicle!) and we asked him how much it must rain for the road to become dangerous... His answer - "Immediately". Needless to say, we clicked off a few images and then headed back down - again in 1st gear because it is so steep... Why did we go up there in the first place you may ask! Well, to see Reilly's Rock, which is similar to Ayres Rock in Australia. It is much smaller but much, much older than it's Australian cousin!!! Yip - to see a freaking rock... Anyway - it never rained until much later that evening!!! Have yourselves a great weekend and thank you so much for your comments and favs on my elegant Swazi lady of last night!!! Hugs, Carin xx

Stellar capture of the darkening Swazi mountains under ominous skies, Carin! And, it's most apparent that you are the devil-may-care adventurous type, young lady! But that's what a truly dedicated photographer consists of...to throw caution to the winds and laugh in the face of danger for that one timeless picture!

Great capture and a great story Carin. Why did you go up there? Why not. I would have done the same. Adventure! Must be a great country and it looks very lush, not only in this shot but also in some of your previous uploads. Have a nice trip!

Fantastic adventure! When we get out on those high remote dirt trails again, you'll probably be having our weather while we have yours. Enjoy your hot days while you can. :D
