Somber image. Why - perhaps best asking them. I find that popular revisionest and appologist get things wrong. Time changes our values and it can be very difficult to connect with those that came before us. The next choice is looking at not the non-fiction but the fiction that the generation that lived through produced and it will say a great deal about what they leave unspoken. The more interesting question is what do you want to know by asking.

Why . . .? So that people can breathe free and remember all of THEIR tomorrows were traded for your TODAY. Plato stated it most accurately: Only the Dead have seen the end of war. Though far too many forget this. Far too many today are too quick to blame and resent those that see to their safety. Too many cannot see the value in what they have. That being freedom. Well I fought for those freedoms. And I will NEVER forget their value.
