Description

A rather unconventional portrait, I know. :) This is my great-niece, Makenna. She just turned three years old a couple of weeks ago. I took this picture at her birthday party. Makenna is totally into the whole Disney princess thing, and they did not play "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" at her party, they played "Pin the Crown on the Princess." The mask she's wearing is one of the accoutrements of the game. She doesn't like to have her picture taken, but she was perfectly happy to put on the mask and have me take her picture. Go figure! :) For those of you who like to follow the bouncing ball: Joan, my mother's sister, who I posted a portrait of a couple days ago, is Makenna's great-grandmother. Makenna's mother is Joanie, Joanie's mother is Denise, Denise's mother is Joan. (Joan's daughter Denise is NOT MrsRatbag, by the way!) :)

You make my head spin, with all the nieces and aunts? Puhh! She is just so cute, and I can understand why she wants to hide behind a mask.

She knows that the eyes are the window to the soul, that's why she don't mind th mask shot :)...Out of the mouths of babes, I have prfected praise, something in that line:)...Wonderful shot of a beautiful child!

The set of that mouth says it all, a strong personality, an older head on those young shoulders, I agree with Ronnie's comment about the windows to the soul. Her eyes are covered and you cannot capture her soul so everthing's OK in her world. Unconventional it may be but it is still a cracking portrait, and one she will love in years to come. Maybe when she looks back on this in a few years time, she may well tell you WHY? Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

You captured her beautifully Tara! She looks cute. I think she didn't mind having her picture taken because she figured she could hide. I used to hide hehind a chair leg, closing the eye that looked past the chair leg. Go figure that. Your family tree sounds confusing, but the picture is sweet. One for the album!
