Yeah, yeah, I know I have been a lazy a$$ and didn't upload much lately. Here is Africa in it's raw form when the heavens erupt and huge amounts of energy's set free above us. Thanks to a special friend who encouraged me to upload this. I know it's totally blown out on the left but it was a continuous flash which lasted for more than a second. Spectacular to say the least, if only our equipment could capture the drama of it all.

Good luck to those of you who are caught in the grip of winter and endless snow. My sympathies from a warm and humid part of the world.

exceptional capture Piet.I like to capture lightning but afraid of it traveling horizontal causing me to have more than I ever wanted.in a storm like this it can travel easily 6-8 miles or more

Piet this is an amazing shot, it must have been really atmospheric and buzzing there that night. I love thunderstorms but of course have never experienced the sort that you must see in S. Africa.
