Description
The ship in the new JJ Abrams Star Trek is supposedly from prior to the alteration of the timeline. In fact, its destruction is what altered the timeline from best guesses so far.
This ship, is in the original Star Trek universe, as it might have looked had it been refit to TOS technology, and also fit into the Saladin Class Destroyers as a heavy destroyer variant.
(Saladin class is an original design from the Starfleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph, copyright 1975, used with permission.)

Nicely done! Not too many ships (at least that I recall) had the saucer under the engineering hull; although might not be the most accurate word to use, just the one that makes most sense. I tried modifying an Enterprise model I got my hands one once to have the engineering hull up top with the nacelles coming off it and going under the saucer. However, it ended up looking not so good. Then again, I've never been the best model maker around. And by that, I mean building plastic model kit, not a 3D model. I never paid a lot of attention, but is it supposed to look like an "upside down" engineering hull? The bay at the rear is what caught my attention first here, but the parts surrounding the dish on three sides also caught my eye. Still not overly fond of the single nacelle designs, but to each his/her own. Maybe it's more visually appealing on some of the TNG era classes of ships, or just the time at which I became a fan.

Nice one! And just think..if they kept the original movie release date we'd be seeing the movie in less than two days! Now we've got to wait until May.

Nice seeing the Kelvin done TOS style. That full preview got me stoked for the movie.
