Description

A couple weeks ago, the second day of the big snow, my friend Martin gave me a ride so I didn't have to drive around in the white stuff. (The road you see was obviously clear ... it's one of the major thoroughfares in this area.) We came up over the crest of a hill, and this is what I saw. I got one shot, hand-held, zoom, in a moving vehicle through a fairly dirty window. Imagine my surprise when I got home and found THIS!! What you need to know about this area, and about our mountains, is that they move around a lot. I swear. Some days they're really close, and some days they're really far away. I'm sure it has something to do with the amount of moisture in the atmosphere or something. In any event, they don't usually look like they're looming over us like this! The mountains are generally a LOT farther away. :) .......... We're still working on my photo processing software issues, and I've got Photoshop 7 installed. That should tide me over until the CS3 problem is resolved! Whoo-hoo!

It has to be the light (early?) and the windshield glass (dirty) that caused these mountains to shift closer, don't you think? What other variables come into play? I know...rain, mist, fog, snow... Great shot. You definitely captured the moment and that's a perishable quality in a photo. Bill

Gosh, I just installed PS7 yesterday and now I'm looking for my book on what to do with THAT! Its so different from my PS6. great shot and a beautiful place to live. But I don't like the size of that big town. That's busier than what I see downtown here!
