Description
My mother's hand. She was born during the great depression, and was a young teenage girl during World War II. After the war she married my father, a sailor from the United States Navy.
During the war he saw lots of action in the South Pacific fighting the Japanese. He was stationed on PT 105, a runner boat in the same squadron as President John F. Kennedy's PT 109. He remembers the day the 109 didn't return to port. "Damn, tough break" was all he remembers anybody saying.
Together my mom and dad lived through some amazing times witnessing heretofore unbelievable changes through the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and on to the beginning of a new century!
Dad left this world 7 years ago, and although she misses him greatly, she's still going strong today at 81. She flew by herself here to spend Christmas with us.
Grasping her hand are the tiny fingers of her Great Grand Daughter, little Ava Grace. Just 3 weeks old, she probably has no idea whose hand she is grabbing hold of, but then again you never know.
One hand is marked with the passage of time in deep set wrinkles of experience and wisdom, and one hand possessing the wrinkles of innocence and promise. Together they bridge the generation gap, and the story continues. . . .
Thanks for reading.

What a beautiful image.

Funny, but I don't see a gap here at all. Perhaps because I am a grandmother and reaching out for my grand daughters is like reaching out for myself all over again. Great shot.
