Description
This is another one in my series "Days of Awe", with the little girl. Links to the other two images are below.
This series is about those days when everything can be a reason for awe and surprise, days of discovery. Days when going to the far end of a lake feels the same as going to the moon.
To tell you the truth, when I made the first one, I didn't know this was going to be a series. The concepts more or less unfolded by themselves in my mind.
I'm normally very careful about the composition of my images, how the different elements visually interact with one another and how they "guide" the viewer across the image. I particularly like how this image turned out from that point of view. I hope you like it too.

Absolutely exquisite work... This is another one of those images that draws me in, and makes my mind paint the story around what I see. I am drawn to so many things here, like the way the lighting bounces along the astoundingly realistic rocky textures; the stillness of the water that yet shows evidence of a slight breeze; the tree pulling me towards it, standing there so resolute, but so alone. And the mounds upon which the tree is rooted are seemingly simple, yet this is a deceptive illusion -- because one realizes, there is something awaiting beyond those hills which we cannot see. I wonder what it is... Though seated, the girl and the cat both show a burning intensity in their posture and focus. I'm looking at the tree and the moon and the rocks and the water -- but their focus also pulls me to some unknown thing quite beyond my point of view. I am yearning to know what they see...
