Description

This is a follow up to http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1806572 This was my Grandma (Nan) on November 9 this year. Doesn't look like she's dying of cancer does she? She was 87. Now she looks nothing like this I'm told. I spoke to her today. If you could call it that. I used all my strength not to cry on the phone. My poor Nan can't even talk. But something strange happened. The last week, because I haven't been able to see her, I prayed. I said "Nanna, if I can't come to you, you come to me" meaning she comes to me in my dreams. This morning she struggled to say ... forced herself to say.... "if you can't come to me, I'm coming to you". It wasn't until afterward I felt ... shocked. I thought omg. I replied to her "Yes Nan and we will go for lunch and go to Markies in Southport" which is something she loved doing. I feel now she can hear my every thought. She hasnt got long.. a week at the most. I love this woman so much. And have no idea what I'm going to do without her. I went to church today to light a candle but sadly that area was alarmed and there were no priests around to ask to unlock it. Some good things about my Nanna. She was a Nanny for the bank de marsh family in Spain. She was a nurse in the war. She fell in love with a soldier and dreamt of his death the night he died. The last love letter he ever wrote to her is in the Imperial War Museum. She was approached by Daniel Day Lewis' sister and asked if a movie could be done about her and this letter. She refused due to the fact my Grandad had no idea and she didn't want to upset him. The letter is also in a book. She has the most amazing sense of humour, is always optomistic. Hasn't a clue about technology even though we have sat down 1000's of time and shown her. And is as ditzy as anything. You have to make sure she either gets a gift that she opens in front of you, or has her name on it or she will give it to someone else as she ALWAYS has to give you something, even if it's half a box of cereal. I have a house full of trinkets from Nanna that she just HAD to give me. She is the most fun loving positive person I have ever met and even now still forced herself to chuckle, and she couldnt even talk. She is my Nanna. (sorry bout the small photo but its all I have sadly)

Your photo of your Nan is beautiful, she is a lovely sweet lady with a wonderful smile:-) Your story about her brought tears to my eyes, I could feel your pain and sadness at not being able to help her. My heart goes out to you at this very sad time. I know that there is nothing I can say to you that will help but know that I am thinking of you and your lovely Nan. Bright Blessings and hugs Sylvia

She looks like a very proud and elegant woman, and who doesn't love that sassy scarf and bright smile? I am sorry about her painful illness and what you all are going through. My grandmother died a very painful death from cancer as well many years ago. I remember her though as I knew her before....the robust, fun loving woman who was always quick witted, quick to laugh, and would do anything she could to help those who needed it. Your gran seems like she is that way too. God bless you all, and I am praying for her. Big hugz, Suze
