The Last Day Of The Year
Wow, where did it go? I guess we say that every year at this time, when one year ends and the next begins. We look back, reflect, get all misty eyed, or maybe not. Maybe the year sucked and we’re just REALLY glad it’s over.
There are those of us who’ll party till the cows come home, pay the price the next day. Some will just be with friends, celebrating quietly, ringing in the new year that way. Others will just stay home with their families, children, perhaps letting the kids stay up to make noise, and listen to the sounds heard at midnight. There are also some who will be alone, by choice or by circumstance.
It’s that time when we look forward, with hope, questions, wonder, expectations, the list goes on and on. We put great stock in this day, wanting to believe life will be better, and that’s just as it should be. New Year’s resolutions, written or talked about, full of great promise, always something we want to change about ourselves or something in our lives. Most of the time, they’re forgotten in moments, ignored, tossed out. But at the time, we mean it, that we really do want to change.
So yes, it’s the last day of the year. Tomorrow brings the new year, and let it be good.
