Wakened by a chill
That ran through my spine
I sat up in bed
And I saw the march of the dead
Souls walking
Back and forth
Looking for someone
Or something
To let them loose
To set them free
To give them what they needed
To slip into the great beyond
But there was no rest
For these weary souls
Something was holding them there
And they couldn’t stop moving
I reached my hand out
To try and stop them
But they just walked right through me
They couldn’t even see me
They didn’t know I was there
I don’t know if they wanted me to help them
Or maybe they were just there
To warn me
Don’t go to sleep
Without peace in your soul

My dead don't haunt me ... I guess that's about as much peace as can be expected. Your imagery is well done. Nice writing!
