Description

acrylic on canvas | 48"x36" | brushwork only Because rocks are one of the few natural elements that scale well, I used rocks from my garden for both the foreground bolders and cliffs beyond. The background mountain was inspired by a photo I took of the Sierra Buttes. I used several cloud images as starting points for the sky. The waterfall, water and trees were imagined elements. I composited all the elements in PhotoShop as a rough then transferred the image to the canvas freehand then painted it traditionally. I hope you like it. (c) 2001-2009 David McCamant. That is stunning work. Acrylics is so difficult since it dries so quickly. Personally I like oil paint more because it gives me more time for corrections. But this is superb light and color choices :)

There is a certain thomas hart benton quality to the shapes and tones, yet no more than a touch. I like this a lot, it is a landscape of vivid dreams and space. The water pulls the eye nicely into the distance, make me want to see more that is hidden. Brilliant work here.
