Description

Ultrafractal 4.04 Hi y'all! Hope everyone had a great New Year's celebration and holidays and has their creative batteries all recharged up and ready to create awesome fractal art for '09. I don't typically do "sequels" - or at least post them - but this variation on my Kon-Tiki fractstract I think is showable and the darn thing has been banging on the walls of its folder so much, I figured I'd let it out to make it stop - lol. I like the different coloring of this one and also the taller composition. I also added some "islands" in the green oval to represent the Pacific islands Heyerdahl journeyed to. Actually, there WAS a Kon-Tiki II built and his grandson was going to try to duplicate the feat a couple of years ago, but I'm not sure it ever happened. Anyhow, I've gone back and forth as to the sorta "squashed" compo/aspect ratio of this piece's predecessor. Sometimes I really like it, sometimes I'm not so sure. I reckon most times I do. As I just looked at them side by side, I think maybe the "raft" is more evident in the first one. Anyone want to weigh in on which is better or if they are both ok? Here's the original one: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1805309&member Thanks for stopping by to check out my new "bass boat"! lol c-ya! I think they both have their excellent merits Rick, there seemed to be more to look at and think on in the first but I like the boldness of figure work in this one. More concentrated. I love 'em both. You are just such a brilliant Artist.

The raft was more evident in the first, but this is still a beautiful fractal with wonderful form.

Yes, the raft is more obvious in your first post. But I like this also, especially the coloring.

Personally I favor the coloring and the less cluttered feel of this one. The partial rectangle in the top right of this one is slightly distracting however. I really like the 'squarish' background texturing of both of them.

Both pieces are marvelous. I like the first one because of its deeply saturated colors but I like this one because it's tall and the forms are more free flowing. Try saturating this one up a little and I think it will really pop.

The other has eye-catching colors, but I think this one has a better flow to it.

I definitely prefer the composition of II over I, but love both of them! The colors in II are relaxing and it gives a less cluttered feel. My .02 cents

They are both marvelous looking, but the first seems to grab my attention more. I do love it when you show the difference in your images. You have such a wonderful creative mind!

I much prefer this version: great colours and I like the narrower crop too. I'm not very keen on the brown rectangle in the top-right corner though - I'd be tempted to remove it.
