Lovely. A friend of mine from Lithuania finds it on her local beach and makes it into all types of jewelery. Some of it has mosquitoes and everything in it!

This is Amazingly Beautiful. Er det en ternet blok det ligger på? For så er det et ret stort smykke.

The texture of amber is so much more than the surface. The color and the material it is made of give such depth and richness to it. I love this shot and I know how prized it is by you.

First, the connection with your mother is precious, and I'd fav it for that alone. Secondly, this, closeup, has a lot of of life. You know, some of your insect shots have the same light in them, which just shows you that when we get closeup in nature, we see lots of similar wonders. I know amber comes from wood, but something happens in its age-long metamorphosis: It gets a translucent quality, like worlds inside of thick glass; and you caught that feeling here. It looks almost like hard caramel, or butterscotch. A simple shot, but eloquent, and I think it's delicious. Keep feeling better, Helle. I'm so glad that nerve is starting to heal a bit...
