Description

This is an Apple Blossom Amaryllis. This plant typically produces four blossoms in winter usually/amazingly between Christmas and New Years. Here, however, there are six blossoms on this plant. This, I am told, is a rarity.
Please note this is where my ranting begins. Short attentioned span viewers may now be excused. Thanks for stopping by...:) Make it a great day!
Life is harder now. The economy being what it is and what's yet to come will make living even harder...no figure pointing please. Last time I checked no one pointed a gun to anyone else's head and made them take out a subprime loan. Doesn't matter if it's the stock market, mortgage or auto makers crises; the sooner we take personal responsibility the sooner we'll all get beyond it to the other side...ok 'nough said. But these are interesting times that make it hard to imagine ones glass half full. Somedays it's hard to even see the simple abundance that life still has to offer. A dear sweet lady gave me this plant as a Christmas present after I rejected her offer to give me her credit card so I could go buy a "real" present for myself from the gift shop. I told her I didn't want to commit credit fraud. She understood and relented. She insisted I take this plant home and enjoy it when it blooms. A few days ago when I told her how many blossoms the plant is producing she smiled wistfully and said "Plants, much like humans, thrive under the best conditions. Your cup runneth over my dear." She gets reflective as she often does and said "These are the best of times and the worst of times. I should know. I've been through it all." (she's 89) The world's not going to end but it will go on without you if you let it. All you have to do is roll with the flow." I cannot imagine better gifts - her kind gesture and words. I'm sure times will get tougher and in those times when my rose colored glasses crack and I can't see straight I hope this picture and her words will remind me to see life's simple abundance and to keep rolling with the flow. Thank you for those of you who hung in there and read this. Make it a great day!

A beautiful present with wonderful rewards and your words are very true. I hope this keeps flowering for you for many weeks as they can do.

A Perfect photo to illustrate your thoughts (inspirational)!! Perhaps your local news/paper would like to share this. I'm sure it would help many to gain a better perspective on these times.

A lovely, glowing image. The natural splendor of something "real"! Yes, real! No computer program will ever compete (a rather bold statement, if I may say so, to be stated here on Renderosity!). But personal responsibility? In this the age of bailouts I thought such a concept was a thing of the past and proven to be false! :~)

This capture is absolutely marvelous. the balance you created is candy for the eyes and very easy to view. I find the tiny shadows within a delight as is the story with this. Stellar job.
