To all of my mother's Renderosity friends:
It saddens me to no end to tell you that my mother, Mina, passed on May 31st, from endometrial cancer. She is survived by my father, Roger, and myself. I apologize for not letting you all know sooner, but her passing has left me with a broken heart and it is very hard to write this, even now. I don't suppose there will ever come a time that it will be easier.
I know how much she loved you all, how much it meant to her to have met such wonderful people, and how much it meant to her to create & share her art with you. I am leaving her work here for a while, as tribute to her, her beauty, her talent & her love.
Brightest Blessings to you all!
Heather
 Mina's daughter
Thanks to all for stopping by and hope you enjoy your visit.

A very lovely scene with such a cozy look you gave to the cottage. Flowers covered in snow are always so fascinating, as they seem to be such survivors.CC

Beautiful work and instant fave! Thinking this a bit iconic I decided to do a quick internet search on the title "a Rose in Winter" Here is a few tidbits gleaned, aside from a book with that title: The ancient Greeks thought that rose stimulate senses and takes sadness away. In legend, a rose in winter is representing a symbol of finding a right way. The Rose in Winter has become one of the most enduring of all Christmas symbols and has given rise to an entire genre of Christmas song. The image originally derived from the allegorical prophecy of Isaiah that the Messiah would be a new shoot arising from the stem of Jesse, father of David the King. In the Middle Ages the rose also began to be associated with the Virgin Mary as well. It was a symbol of joy. The name rosarium, literally a rose garden, was applied to an early practice of the rosary in which a litany of fifty joys of Mary were recited alternating with Aves. *The Rose in Winter also figures prominently in Christmas miracles.
