Description

16" x 20" | oil on canvas For this simple set up I used faux grapes, a live apple, a bit of eucalyptus, a brass bowl, an enameled ball, all composed on an old wood plank. I shot the composition for HDR then worked up the rough in PhotoShop. The image was transferred to the canvas freehand then painted traditionally. I hope you like it. © 2008-2009 David McCamant. Thank you all for your kindness. All of my work begins with sketching then photography of the objects. I then composite, manipulate and enhance the shots digitally until I'm happy with the composition. The last phase is printing out the image as the starting point for the painting. I then begin the painting with a tinted ground (a wash of dull color on the canvas), followed by direct traditional painting. The method is to sketch the design by hand, eye and brush with a very thin dark grayed color and build up the painting from there. No use of extra tools or anything like that, all of the work is just paint applied with brush as it's been done for centuries. Thank you all again, David
