Description

En-Route to her rendezvous with Comet Murasaki-Tate III, the Deep Spacecraft COURAGEOUS flies by the Near Earth Asteroid 2092-3087, nicknamed "Frigid Nelson", in an apparent homage to Captain Dame Daphne Richardson's ex-husband. An impactor cloud of microprobes has been released and will make contact with the asteroid a few hours after COURAGEOUS's closest approach. Built and rendered in Lightwave 8.5, with post work done in Photoshop CS2. Thanks to everyone for commenting on the WIP of this craft, I decided to flesh out the design, and replace the elevator from Habitat to hub with a transfer Tube. Thanks! And thanks for taking a look! -Tom

Very nicely done! Great details! I like the ion drive flares, and I see you added a slight trail off the radiators to indicate spin direction.

Very cool... even if it does look like a marshmallow on a stick :) It goes without my saying, but it's so refreshing seeing intelligent, practical spacecraft designs.

Yes, ditto the slight motion blur. I have to applaud your putting the science back in the sci-fi. While it doesn't make me anti the way-out stuff, I like reeling in the imagination toward something that once considered seems realistic but also incredibly harrowing. Space travel wouldn't be for tourists, imo. I'm afraid that now that arcas has mentioned the "marshmellow" it may be forever burned into my analogous memory. Perhaps not what the creator would have wanted but even real life designs fall into the hands of the common imagination with less than appreciated monickers. Maybe some insignias or call letters would break that metaphor. Nice Job!

Excellent design changes and very sharp render - love the lighting and the already noted ion burn.

I especially appreciate your addition of flags from numerous nations to show that challenge of space travel can bring us together
