Description

Space Captain 'Booster' Burkington commands the rocketship "Neptune" on its astounding journey to the distant planet Xerxes... source of strange and mysterious radio signals... all they say is "Id id id..." What could it mean? Is it the last words of a long dead race of super-advanced aliens building giant supercomputers in the heart of the planet, or is it merely as cheap reference to a classic SF movie? Rocket is by Geodesic rendered in Bryce. Thanks for looking. Iain

A Classic image. I'm afraid that Captain Burkington is in for a surprise as the "Id id id..." is the result of the last of the super-advanced aliens forgetting to shut off the Playstation before they went on extended holiday.

Wow, very nostalgic scifi scene, I'd like to know more about the effects (postwork)

The rocket has a cone light underneath pointing at the ground and another pointing up, this gives the rocket the yellow glow around the engine area. A purple cone light is shining onto the hull near the top. The dust cloud is simple a sphere with volumetric cloud texture, recoloured. The only postwork is the flame effect using PhotoShop - a soft brush with around 35% opacity and various colours. Finally a ripple effect to show the heat of the engine on the ground as it comes into land. The moon is the 'Selene' texture from Bryce with the transparency removed so it appears as a solid. Hope that helps lordgoron ^_^
