I am a professional firefighter. I have been engaged in art since I was about 6 years old (Thanks Mom). I hold a degree in architecture and that is where my true love for art formulated. I've worked with computers since 1970. I started off with Fortran programing. Technology was very fast paced at that time. Keeping up with the trend, I was able to stay in the mix. My first computer was a Macintosh. That was the shit at the time. Then the PC arrived. I was hooked on that for countless years until I discovered the benefits of Apple and my connection to it. All that I can say is that if you're working on a PC with Poser, you have no idea. I first discovered this secretive 3D medium in 2005. I started with Poser 5. Glad that I started there (not too particular concerning previous versions). To me, V3 was and is still the most manipulable of all characters since. The morphs are truly unique to the chacter. I hardly ever use V3 now. I believe in morphing standard characters to my own particular liking as so to make them my own, One of a kind. To me, Poser is by far the leading character production program. I sometimes use Vue and always PSCS4 for any postwork.

The composition is very clean, particularly the way you framed her in light and then cut across the bottom with the heavy shadow of the panther. The dappled lighting effect behind her works very well to help convey these sense that this is set in a steaming, hot jungle (and speaking of steaming hot... the lady is quite attractive, too). And for a reason I can't quite put into words, I really like that hint of red in the upper right corner. It's VERY effective, somehow, in helping convey a sense of hushed fear. I really like the simplicity of her pose. Although it might be argued that she's a bit static, in this scene it works because you realize that she has just frozen in fear at the site of the cat in front of her. I wonder if her left hand is in the best possible position, though. Perhaps a hand, fingers flat together, moving toward her mouth (but not covering it) would help convey that she's caught her breath and is in mid movement of putting her hand over her mouth to silence any gasp of fear she might be about to make. But I'm really only thinking out loud here. I like that it looks like she's clutching her necklace (perhaps a good luck totem?) in fear. My only suggestion at all to improve things (and this didn't leap out at me instantly) would be to subtly edit the grass textures directly behind the panther's lower jaw. Right now it would be possible to misread the scene and think he's got a little beard, or perhaps something hanging from his mouth. It's not likely, but a little post work could clean that up in an instant. But that's just nitpicking. I'm really impressed by your composition and texturing of this scene (and I just LOVE that little hint of his eye that we can make out through the steamy haze). It's all VERY well done! Bravo, and thanks for sharing with us.

M, your critique is excellent. The red in the upper right corner: why you might like it is that it conveys another, subltle, sense of danger. 5
