Born 1941. Yeah, I know, that's old. Live in Rome. Was raised in Buenos Aires, and still feel that as home. Work as a consultant in GIS (Geographical Information Systems). My hobby, or maybe my real profession, is South American history. My wife is a very well known (in her specialized world ) Roman archeologist. Our son is 30 years old, but hasn't decided to grow up yet. Deals in politics. We travel, at least an important travel each year.

You are right concerning the swaying. I've been in one suspended like this one...tho' not nearly as decked out. Ridden in leaf-sprung ones, like Old West coaches, and non-sprung types. I'll take any suspension over none. Nice photos. Thanks.

Oh, thank you! I went back and looked at your post from a couple of days ago, and I can see the straps quite clearly. I love knowing how things work. :) I thought there must be some mechanism for making the rich occupants as comfy as possible!

Such an ornate carriage. This detail you have brought out is fascinating. Excellent shot.
