Description

Sintra, palace. It's on a hillside, within commuting distance from Lisbon, and it was the summer residence of the royal family. I find it interesting that the main architectural feature are the two smokestacks of the humungeous palace kitchen. It brings to mind that in many languages the word for "home" is the same as the word for the fireplace/kitchen (italian "focolare", spanish "hogar").
