Description

When I was a child, my parents had a holiday caravan at Tywyn in Wales. We used to go there every weekend during the season. Our route took us past Breidden Hill which is just on the border between England and Wales at Trewern near Welshpool. Heading into Wales it just looks like a 3 humped hill but as you drive past it, it changes shape. Heading back home into Shropshire from Welshpool, as you approach it, the hump on the right side slopes upward and has a small square shaped top which then has a rounded slope the other side. As you get nearer, the rounded slope is more exaggerated and eventually, the top disappears. In later years, we've travelled a different route along the A5 heading towards Llangollen and it takes on a different shape again - even appearing to have 4 humps at one point. As a 7 year old child I named it 'The Mountain With The Funny Top' and it stuck for years till I found out it was called Breidden Hill. Even now, when we head into Wales along the M54, after we've gone past Telford and get to a bend in the road with a clearing in front I always say 'Ooh, I can see Breidden Hill' much to my husbands' dismay. He says I have an obsession with it!! Anyhoo, taking that 'obsession' into Vue, here it is - even the square bit on the top came out which was a complete fluke. It's just 1 terrain that I spent a lot of sculpting to get right ( using topography for reference ) The little structure on the hump on the left, which is being quarried to oblivion, is a monument called 'Rodney's Pillar' This would be the view of it heading on the A458 from Welshpool to Trewern. I CAN waffle on sometimes can't I ?? Thanx 4 peekin

It looks like the kind of hill that has a complete Celtic fort under it, doesn't it? Complete with treasure and King Arthur napping. I like the little bright spot of the van in the field as well, it's so cute! Your little rocks make it look so realistic!

Does your husband know about this? :-))) However, I think a lot have special places like that. A lot means me of course here - a lot. Excellent image, may it be an obsessional mountain or not! Very cool.

Well now, of course, you have to show us from other angles, so we can get the whole shape-changing effect. :-)

Can certainly understand your fascination with this particular hill. I have a few places like that, myself. I really like that background hill--the Briedden hill, but the whole render is just lovely. Definitely making this one a fav, Gill.
