I stand in awe
Of a greatness that is coming upon us
A wave that has the hopes of billions
The dreams of this generation
And the generations to come
A movement so great
That the whole world
Will be standing still
In front of a television
At the same time
A light
At the end of a eight year long tunnel
That created darkness
Around the whole world
A virus that was designed
To cripple the poor
To stand on the throat
Of the helpless and the hopeless
Has run its course
Not since the exodus of Egypt
Has so many
Needed the leadership
Of someone who cares
We have survived to the Red Sea
And it is time to cross
I stand hand in hand
With my brothers and sisters of hope
With my shovel on my back
Ready to do my part
To make his vision
My vision
To change the world
With compassion and hard work
With all my heart

Doesn't it bother you that you put so much hope in a guy you know nothing about? If he does half what him and his party say they are, the country will be bankrupt. Just look at the damage they've done with the banks and Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac.

While I don't believe in miracles, I do believe our new President is going to be paying attention, which will be SUCH an improvement! My favorite quote: "He seems a grown-up, in a nation that badly needs some adult supervision." (Joe Klein, Time Magazine) Amen to that! Your poem is inspiring. Beautifully done!
