The great day is finally upon us
I walk with my head tilted up
With my face into the sun
To bask in the warmth
Of a new beginning
I have served my time in the cold
And now I am free
Free from the darkness
That lives in the souls of the wicked
I stand with tears running down my face
From the hope in my heart
In the last 8 years
They have beat us up
But they were never able to beat us down
Today we as a nation
Stand arm in arm
Hand in hand
And they cannot bend or break us
From this new journey
That we have set our eyes upon
The dawn of the new day is here
And we are free
