Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Perfect. Now, I don't have the blues but boy am I a fan!!! I use a music service through TIVO called Rhapsody...you pays your $12/month and get all the music you want...B.B. King was my beginning. Now, I also thrown some country blues in there too. George Jones has been on tonight singing about lonesome train whistles, lost loves, drinkin', being in jail...you know all that uplifting stuff :) I love it and your words and illustration above are right on! Check this place out...I just found it yesterday and it is nearby (not been there yet): Knuckleheads

marilyn, I played blues for years and your lyrics are the best capsulization of blues lyrics I've seen. They're perfect! When you play blues for hours, you get into this 'zone' and you don't come out: I swear, at the end of some sessions I got up and was ready to ride my mule outa town. (I was in Chicago—trust me, there weren't a lotta mules around here...) I still have blues 78s & those old LPs. There was a guy here who had a shop all dark & dingy, the guy had every blues recording since the 1400s, and he'd pull out a rare Howlin' someone or other (I thought I knew names until I met him) and play them all day. I don't know how he stayed open, people just came there to listen. But I got great stuff from him, and this bein' the center of Electronic blues (Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, etc, great artists), hearing the old acoustic stuff was incredible. Great poem, glad your a fan! And the right picture too: an old guitar who prefers soft focus 'cause he's got scars, baby, he's been around...
