Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Like your photos. My father had a friend who was a master violin maker. I remember as a youngster visiting this man's shop and being awstruck by all the beautifully hand carved pieces on the wall waiting for the master to assemble them. In another room were the assembled violins in various stages of finishing. String instruments are real works of art.

Marilyn I'm always impressed by people who can play musical instruments because I have no such tallent and would find it so difficult to learn. My Sylvia used to teach adults to play Clarinet and has played in an orchestra. This is a great slant on the subject, you have made the image very sexy!

I've been meaning to start taking some artistic shots of my husband's guitars, and this shot inspires to get moving. Love the lighting and composition. Love those curves!

Great comments above. Yes instruments are works of art, everyone of them. And an acoustic guitar has a flow and presence all its own. (LOL on the 'curves'!) I bought a classical guitar in Madrid years ago, and walking in there—ala Bill's comment—was like walking into Rembrandt's studio. It was awe-inspiring. At the same time, seeing an old beat up guitar that's been taken halfway across the world and accompanied its owner through thick & then has the same awe to it. I don't know which this is, but whatever it is, it's obviously an instrument you care about. Didn't know you played. Maybe you'll upload some music! Look forward to more instruments, if you decide to post them...

I have curves like that ... if you turn it sideways, that's what I look like from the front...view it from the back and that's what I look like from the side! :-)
