Description
A bodhrán player...
The bodhrán is a celtic musical instrument. Its origins are not well defined: some say that it is a recent instrument (19th-20th century) while others say that it is derived from the tambourine and from other instruments that you could find in other countries (Eastern Europe or even North Africa) and that were brought to Ireland with celtic migrations. It is therefore possible that it was used in ancient times...
Normally, you must be seated when playing Bodhrán though some contemporary photographs show musicians playing bodhrán as on my render.
I used Larynda by my friend Stacy-Kaleya because she does perfectly match my vision of the bodhrán player. The fantasy wrap inspired me for this render and of course Stacy's textures for it.
Is it fantasy? Is it historical? Probably both at the same time...
I added the sparrows because I wanted to increase the peaceful feeling.
A very special mention for Richard taylor whose free bodhrán model is superb... It can be found in the free stuff here at RMP. It came to my mind immediately when I began working on the scene.
The character pose took a lot of time to achieve (because of the bodhrán and tipper that are held a special way).
Yes, the right spelling is bodhrán (I edited this text because though I wrote it that way, the "á" was not accepted)...
Scene composed in Poser Pro and rendered in VUE 7 Complete.
Thank you for stopping by and looking at my render... :)

Wonderful image Phillipe! I think you really captured the spirit of your idea here. The birds add a nice touch. Well Done!

So that's what it's called. Have seen the energetic drummer play it on Celtic Woman programs.

Beautifully done, Philippe. Your attention to detail is second to none and you share my liking of Kaleya's characters. And thanks for the information.
