This speaks loudly of a silencing of emotion. The atmosphere you created that gives the impression of a prisoner leads me to reflect on how many prisons we create for ourselves and others. Yet, there is that freedom of the spirit within us. That is our true identity. If we only learn to listen and feel, we can never be completely kept behind bars, or fences. We can fly and soar. That is the secret that those who would imprison don't know. :) Excellent and thought provoking work, Nikolay.

Nikolay, this is a powerhouse. I see the date in your title, and wonder if it isn't E.Orthodox Epiphany: Maybe your image is a moment of examining our prisons in light of the revelations around us...Or perhaps it's just your inimitable way of making each moment a penetration into our souls. It looks like your face (from the few pictures I've seen), esp. the nose and lines around the mouth; but whoever it is, there's definitely a sense of a prison, because of the very faint prison bars and the bleak wall (delicately shaded in several hues). And then you've incised the number into the image, as if it were a prison-number. I think of Russia's history and I can't help but think of its prisons when I see this image, the way an American would think of slavery or Guantanamo, for example. It's quite powerful, and has your usual brilliance with the simplest means: You've taken a few elements and made a great impact with them. Well, I hope you're ok friend. Jan 19th is Martin Luther King Day in America, which is a day of hope: I think the hope in your image is that it ponders & asks us to look deep into ourselves (as Suzanne suggests as well). An instant fav; amazing how your gallery penetrates us in mere seconds: One is hit the minute they come here...
