Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

a nice palm, Marilyn, against a nice intense sky. And I like the misty 'bloom' in the center, how it looks like the tree is having a small epiphany. And there's a small set of halos around the tree—what in pre-digital days would be minor lens flare. It's perfect for the shot; in fact it's as if a little orb had settled in the tree to deliver a message from the gods...In Chicago, we don't have palms, and I was convinced for the longest time that they were figments of Nature's imagination...but lately I've started to believe! Very nice solo of a tree.

70 would suit me very nicely! We have palms here in Bournemouth, not native of course. It has be freezing and below and they appear happy, unlike me!

An interesting, solitary palm. Your post work enhances the effect. Well done.

Certainly looks like it is thriving in that climate, tho. Not a brown frond on it, anywhere.
