Description

As I walked along the bay the other day, I came upon this heron. This is the only shot I got; he took off the moment the shutter clicked. These guys are SO elusive (isn't that right, Denise? lol).

Your quick shot is better than any I've managed so far! (My camera has a setting that allows you to turn off the "click" of the shutter.)

He was probably just waiting for you to capture his pose. Then, off he went.

he may have taken off a second later, but while he was there he almost seems posed, like he said, "pssst, capture me this way, I look noblest from this side!" A wonderful side-capture, with just a little feather 'out of place' to show he's one of us; and the kind of shot I imagine he'd want his family to have on the wall 'cause it makes him look noble & like he's contemplating the space beyond...And you also got very nice lighting—which is particularly visible full-view: The sun seems to dapple the rock & bird like it's a late day sun (or early day); and the effect is quietly luminous. The water's just present enough to give it a feeling of infinity. Sensitive shot, Marilyn.
