Description

Well, she is, isn't she? While the forces of good and evil both favor Impractical Skimpy Armor, there are certain signs here that act as a hint. * She looks a bit grumpy. If she was smiling, she'd be given away by her evil smile. The good guys grit their teeth and look serious when they're grumpy. * Skin color. She's evil, so she obviously lives in a cave somewhere. Either that or she wears very high SPF sunblock. The heroes always have bronzed tans and end up looking like leather pancakes. * Evil haircut. Well, it's evil when she has it. Good favors impractical floating golden tresses and so forth. I don't think her scrunchie can technically be considered evil in its own right, but only by association. * Evil bra. If you're one of the forces of good, do you wear a bra with skull motif cups? I don't think so. Must be uncomfortable, unless it's padded. Evil probably wouldn't let it get out that evil generally wore padded bras, they'd be made fun of by the generally top-heavy forces of good. * Evil kneecaps. Presumably for scaring very short forces of good. Well, they must have *some* purpose, since they just look plain silly as pure decoration. * Evil background. Good would never appear against blood red. Note that her evil pants are dark blue, which probably takes blood stains terribly. Maybe they've been Scotchgarded. So, there you have it, obviously evil. I may have to follow it up with obviously good, but getting all that hair to flow without it looking like she's got tufts of hair growing out of her breasts/arms/upper body in general isn't easy. That's the rationale for the image, now the tech bits. The main technical reason for the image was to have a good look at Xurge3D's "Raider Armor" for V4. While (as is usual with Xurge3D outfits) it's a bit short on morphs and comes in basic blue only, it includes an absolutely gorgeous 16-bit displacement map (yep, just plug a 16-bit greyscale TIFF into the displacement channel and you get 16-bit displacement mapping) which looks great, especially in close up. The "Raider Armor" is up to the usual high standards, and the complexity of the displacement map and the way it's used on the armor is "Wow!" I wish more people made use of displacement maps. I wish more people fiddled with the gain on their maps (bump or displacement) too, for that matter, but that's just a personal thing. I can understand people not using normal maps much yet, since I think they're P7Pro only. As for the rest - the only Renderosity bits are the hair and the lighting. V4 is obviously from DAZ, her skin is one of the Elite maps for Lena. The sword was a DAZ freebie, or bundled or something. The pose is a DM pose, but I can't for the life of me figure out which set it came in (I've got it in a folder labeled "Brianna's Temple" - standalone set or included with one of Rhi's characters?) That's it - getting the look right was easy, the bits just fitted into place, and I felt that a background image would jar with the nice shadowing and lighting of the figure and armor. Once I decided I liked the look, I just rendered it a big larger, so there's a chance for people to zoom in and look at the details.
