This is Ya Kwanza the dominant male at Durrell's.This was taken a few years ago, he now weights approx 235 kgs. He was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1984 and arrived in Jersey in 1993. His name in swahili means "the first" This is because he was the first Gorilla conceived by artificial insemination. Please check him out in full view. Thank you for your views and comments Susan

He's handsome. :O) I spent most of my time at the Atlanta Zoo in front of the gorilla habitat. They are just so majestic and look intelligent, too. This is a great photograph and it shows their strength and primal beauty so well.
